How to Replace Comcast HD Receivers

Comcast is one of the largest cable providers in the country. The company provides a large amount of programming packages, including HD reception. To receive the HD programming, you need to have an HD television and an HD receiver. However, you may run into problems in which your HD receiver is not functioning properly, in which case you should replace the Comcast HD receiver.

Instructions

    • 1

Contact Comcast and tell the representative what issues you are having with your HD receiver. The number for your local Comcast provider is going to be listed on your monthly bill, or you can call 1-800-Comcast. You are most likely going to be given the option of taking the HD receiver to a nearby Comcast facility or to wait for a Comcast technician to stop by and replace it. If you are in near a facility, you can pick up the replacement receiver so you aren't without cable for a few days.

    • 2

Remove the cables connecting the HD receiver with your HDTV and disconnect it from the power source.

    • 3

Take the HD receiver into the Comcast facility. There is going to be a work order for you on record, so the replacement HD receiver should be waiting for you to pick up. If you elected to have a technician stop by, you don't need to do anything.

    • 4

Plug the HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the back of the Comcast receiver. If you are using component cables, plug these into the "Component Out" ports on the back of the receiver. Connect the HDMI cable (if using) into an available HDMI port on the television. If using component cables, plug these into the "Component In" ports on the back of the television.

    • 5

Plug the new HD receiver into a power outlet and reconnect the cables running from the television. Plug the cable source into the "In" port on the back of the receiver and you are all set to begin watching HD programming again.
