How to Make Your Own Swimmer Shampoo

Swimming is good for your body but not for your hair. Over time, chlorine builds up in hair and alters the overall condition. Consistent swimming causes hair to smell like the pool while also drying out the hair, breaking down the strength of hair and even changing the color. Adding a clarifying and conditioning shampoo once or twice a week to your beauty routine can help minimize the damage swimming can cause.

Things You'll Need

• 4 ounces castile flakes
• Stove
• Pot
• One quart water
• Bowl
• Mixing spoon
• ¼ cup of olive, avocado or almond oil
• Bottle
• Funnel

Instructions

1. Boil a quart of water on the stove.

2. Put four ounces of castile flakes into a bowl. Pour the quart of water onto the flakes.

3. Continue to stir until the flakes cool.

4. Once the mix is cool, add ¼ cup of olive, avocado or almond oil to the bowl to help with dryness. Blend throughly.

5. Using a funnel, pour your homemade shampoo into a bottle.

6. Shake the bottle before applying to hair. Use this shampoo once or twice a week as a supplement to your regular shampoo.
