How to Connect a Mac Mini With a Flat TV
Apple's Mac Mini is a powerful desktop computer. Unlike many Windows- and Linux-based PCs, however, it cannot connect directly to the largely VGA-compatible flat panels and LCD monitors. This is due to the mini DVI port used by the Mac Mini. With an adapter and a longer connector cable, you can connect your Mac Mini to any VGA display you want.

Ensure all devices are turned off and plug the Mini DVI end of a Mini DVI to VGA adapter into the back of the Mac Mini. The Mini DVI end is much smaller than the VGA end.

Plug the VGA end of the adapter into the female end of the VGA to VGA cable. The female end does not have pins in it, only pinholes.

Plug the male end of the VGA to VGA cable into the VGA port on the back of your flat-panel TV. It looks like the female end of the VGA to VGA cable and is often blue.

Power on all devices. The image should appear on the flat-panel TV. If it does not, keep pressing the display or input button on your flat-panel remote until "PC" is selected. This sets the image input to the VGA port.
