How to Stop an AOL Search on the Web Powered by Google Pop Up
When AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) is launched, it opens a pop-up window in the web browser to an AOL web search, powered by Google. If you do not use AOL as your search engine, this can be disruptive to the experience of using AIM. Disable the AOL Welcome Page to prevent the page from popping up when you log into AIM.

Launch AIM and log in. The AOL search page powered by Google will appear in the Web browser. Close this page and continue.

Click "Menu" at the top of the AIM window, then click "Settings."

Click the "Sign In/Sign Out" tab on the left side of the window.

Click the radio button labeled "None" at the top of the window, under "When I sign in, display the following." Click "Save."

Close AIM and re-open it. The AOL web search will no longer pop up when you sign into AIM.

Tips & Warnings
The AOL search page can be viewed at any time while logged into AIM, if you decide that you would like to use it again after disabling it. To cause the search page to appear, click the "View" link from the "Sign In/Sign Out" tab on the "Settings" menu.
