How to Put a BlackBerry Curve on Airplane Mode

The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) both ban cell phone communication on airplanes in the U.S. There are two factors that contribute to this regulation. One is that the electromagnetic waves used by a plane full of mobile phone may interfere with the plane's navigation instruments. The other is that lots of phone calls in close quarters may make it uncomfortable to travel. Either way, you will be asked to turn off your Blackberry Curve or put it in airplane mode when you fly.

Instructions

1. Turn on your Blackberry Curve. Click the Blackberry key (located between the trackball and the green phone key) to navigate to the applications page.

2. Scroll down to click on "Manage Connections." It will be near the bottom of the page, next to "Keyboard Lock."

3. Click "Turn All Connections Off" at the top of the screen. This will turn off any wireless Internet connections, Bluetooth connections and your connection to your mobile network. You are now in airplane mode. When you are ready to end airplane mode and resume connections, navigate your way back to "Manage Connections and click "Restore Connections."

Tips & Warnings

• Putting your Blackberry Curve in airplane mode may not guarantee that you can leave it on during a flight. Airline guidelines can vary. Please check with your airline for specific information before flying.
