How to Play Free Typing Games for Kids
Computers are essential for success in both school and business. However, poor typing skills can hamper performance in the classroom. With enough practice, children can learn to type quickly at a young age, greatly enhancing their understanding and use of computers for a lifetime. Free online typing games are a fun way to teach children how to type without making them feel as if they are actually learning something new.

Using the "home keys" is one of the best ways for a child to learn how to type. For the left hand, these keys are the "A," "S," "D," and "F" keys. For the right hand, these are the "J," "K," "L" and ":" keys.

As your child types, make sure he leaves his fingers on the home keys. In addition, make sure he moves his fingers, not his whole hand, from letter to letter as he types. This will ensure that your child always knows where he is on the keyboard without having to look.

Tips & Warnings
Making sure that your child keeps his fingers on the home keys and only moving the appropriate fingers---instead of the whole hand---when moving to another letter will ensure quick and efficient typing. See the References section for an example of this method.
Be careful not to over exert your child. Extensive time at a keyboard without proper rest and posture has been linked to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
