1
Select an overall theme for your boudoir. Commonly, these rooms are either decorated in soft, romantic details or sensual, intimate designs. It will be necessary to choose an overall design theme before you start shopping for individual pieces.

2
Use a measuring tape to determine the dimensions of the area you will be using for the boudoir. Measure the length of each wall to know how much space you have for furniture and decorations. If possible, have your boudoir arranged near the bathroom and closet.

3
Select the color of paint for the walls. Consider using a light or dark rose, subtle gold or silvery gray. These colors have an unusual richness and sophistication, which are common qualities of a boudoir. Paint all walls of the boudoir in the selected color.

4
Purchase an antique vanity set, which includes a large mirror, vanity table and chair. This should be the focus of the boudoir, both aesthetically and functionally. Place the vanity in a position that will be convenient from both the closet and the bathroom.
-
5
If the floor is not already carpeted, place a warm and comfortable rug in the middle of the room. Ideally, this rug will be large enough to take up most of the floor in the boudoir. The boudoir is meant to be a place of comfort; it is necessary to keep the floor warm and soft.

6
Select additional seating to be placed into the room, such as a small cushioned bench or a detailed settee. Place the seat opposite the vanity, which will allow you to entertain guests while you are sitting at the vanity. If you cannot fit a large piece of furniture into the room, consider using two small chairs. If there is extra space, place a few small, decorative tables in the room. Although these tables will not be functional, they will provide a place for additional decorations.

7
Hang a few small pieces of artwork on the walls. Look for paintings that symbolize sensuality, intimacy, love or passion. If there is space available on your decorative tables, accent the boudoir with small decorations, such as antique perfume bottles or a vase of fresh flowers.
