How to Use Rubber Stamps on a Wall
-
1
Choose the rubber stamps you want to use on your walls. Pick designs that will transfer clearly to the wall. Generally use larger and bolder designs with less detail if you want them to show up clearly.
-
2
Plan the design and area you will be stamping before you begin the actual process. Test on paper and hold up the stamped design to the wall to give you an idea of how it will look. Tape it in place if you need to so you can step back from it and get a look from a distance.

-
3
Clean the wall before you begin stamping. Dust, vacuum and wipe off marks and spots. You want to start with a clean palette so the rubber stamp impressions will imprint properly on the surface.
-
4
Press the rubber stamp in the ink pad and huff hard enough to get ink on the whole design but not so hard that there is a glob of ink that will smear. Then press the inked rubber stamp firmly on the wall, rocking it slightly to make sure the whole image is transferring properly. Repeat for each impression until the design is done.
-
5
Clean the rubber stamp on the stamp pad after a few impressions to make sure it is not getting too inky. You should particularly clean it between impressions if you are changing ink colors so that the ink pads stay one color.
-
6
Let the inked impressions dry. Do not touch them when they are drying or they may smear.

Tips & Warnings
If you find that rubber stamps are too detailed and difficult to work with, alternate tools to use on a wall are foam rubber stamps and acrylic paints.
Use a plate or portable work board to set the stamps and ink pads on, so they do not get on the floor or furniture while you are stamping.
