How to Install Counter Strike Source on a PC

Counter Strike is a first person shooter. Counter Strike Source is an updated version of the original Counter Strike. Source features an updated graphics engine, a different physics engine and minor modifications to the user interface and gameplay. Counter Strike Source can be downloaded using Steam, the games official matchmaking service. Another alternative is to purchase a retail copy of the game. Both versions offer the same content.

Instructions

Steam

1. Download Steam from the link below. Double click the "EXE" and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup. Run the program.

2. Click "Create New Account" (if you don't have one already.) Enter the personal information requested (name, email, user name, and password.) Log in to Steam.

3. Click the "Store" tab. Enter "Counter Strike Source" into the text box.

4. Select "Counter Strike Source." Click "Add to cart."

5. Enter your credit card information. Click "Confirm." The game will begin downloading. You can follow its progress in the "My games" tab. You will use that tab to access the game (and any others) as well. Double click "Counter Strike Source" to start the game.

Retail Disc

1. Insert the disc into your disc drive.

2. Click "Install" when prompted.

3. Click "Yes" to accept the terms of use.

4. Enter the CD Key. The CD Key can be found on the back of the game's case.

5. Click "Yes" when asked to install Steam. Steam is required to access all of the games multiplayer features.

6. Create a Steam account (if you don't have one already.) Enter your personal information and select "Next." Steam will install first, followed by Counter Strike Source.

7. Start Steam. Enter your login information. Go to the "My Games" tab. Double click "Counter Strike Source" to start the game.
