How to Find a Friend's Birthday on MySpace

Unlike competing social-networking site, Facebook, MySpace does not let users list their birthdays on their home pages. Finding out your friends' birthdays on this site takes a little legwork.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a MySpace account by going to the site and clicking on the "Sign Up" tab. You won't be able to access anyone's information unless you have an account; accounts are free and only require you to provide your email address, full name and birthday.

    • 2

Get friends--people whose profiles you may access--by sending "Friend Requests." To do so, log in, click on "Find Friends" on the pulldown "Friends" menu, and search for people you know by entering their full name or their email address. People have to accept your friend request before you gain access to their profiles, although some people have public profiles that give anyone access.

    • 3

Go to your home page and click on the "My Account" tab. This will take you to Account Settings.

    • 4

Click on "Notifications". Scroll down to "Upcoming Birthdays" and you can opt to receive notification of your friends' birthdays, via email, either three days before the date, on the actual birthday or both.

Tips & Warnings

  • Home pages for you and your friends only display your age. Entering a birthday is now mandatory for MySpace users when they set up their accounts, but there is no system in place to verify these dates.
