How to Get a Refund From Delta If They Change the Flight Schedule

When flying with Delta Airlines, periodically you may experience an undesired change to your flight schedule. This is primarily due to flight delays and overbooked flights. If you desire to cancel your flight and get a refund from Delta because of the schedule changes, you can do so. You just have to make sure that you follow Delta's established rules and guidelines.

Instructions

1. Check your travel itinerary to determine whether or not the change to your flight schedule is greater than two hours from your original flight time. If the time difference is not greater than two hours you will not be eligible for a refund unless your reservation was made on the same date as your travel.

2. Decline the offer from Delta to change your flight schedule. The Delta representative will advise you of the change to your flight schedule, and offer an alternate schedule.

3. Advise the Delta representative that you would like to receive a refund for your flight. Note that if you agree to change your flight schedule in step 2, you will not receive a refund for your flight unless your flight is changed again.

4. Wait for your refund to be credited back to you. If you paid for your flight with a credit card it can take up to seven business days for you to receive the refund. If you paid with cash or check, it can take up to 20 business days to receive your refund.
