How to Make a Curtain Scarf Holder
Curtain scarf holders are decorative sconces that you can affix to a wall above the corners of a window or sliding glass door. They hold lightweight pieces of fabric that drape over the top of or through them in a decorative fashion. Curtain scarves add an exotic alternative or addition to the standard curtain-and-rod décor. Things You'll Need
- 2 used horseshoes
- Spray paint
- Newspaper
- Ruler
- Pencil
- 4 small L-shaped brackets
- 8 nails
- Hammer
- 2 screws
- 2 bolts

Obtain two used horseshoes from your local tack store or farm. Spread out some newspaper and spray paint them your color of choice. Allow to completely dry.

Using your ruler and pencil, measure and mark about an inch above the top corner of your window or sliding door frame. Do the same for the other corner of the window or door. This is where the bottom of your horseshoes will be placed.

Hold your horseshoe perpendicular to the wall above the left corner window or door frame with the u-shaped bottom of the horseshoe at the marking. Notice the holes in the horseshoe where the blacksmith would have placed nails. Pick a hole close to where the horseshoe starts to "u" and place a mark on the wall on either side of the horseshoe with your pencil at exactly this point. This is where your L-shaped brackets will go. Do the same for the other side of the window or door-frame.

Nail your brackets into the wall on either side of and very close to each horseshoe so that a screw can be inserted through one bracket, into the hole in the horseshoe, and out the other side of the horseshoe as it goes through the other bracket.

Insert the screw into the holes as described in step 4. Secure the screws by attaching bolts to the open ends of the screws.

Tips & Warnings
Be certain to pick a hole each horseshoe that is near the u-shaped section so that the curtain scarf will cover the unattractive looking brackets.
String an artificial vine with flowers on it around the top of your curtain scarf and drape it over the holders for a romantic look.
Be sure to choose very lightweight, preferably gauzy type material for your curtain scarf so that the holder will not pull off of the wall.
