How to Work a Skid Loader Bobcat
Skid loaders, also known as Bobcats, are used for a variety of outdoor projects. Different attachments allow Bobcats to perform a multitude of tasks. With the fork attachment, for example, they can be used as a fork lift. They can have a trenching attachment put on them for trenching out areas for pipes. The most-used attachment, though, is the bucket. This can be used to move dirt and snow and perform many landscaping tasks. Climb into the Bobcat and put the seat belt on. Some may have a safety bar that needs to be lowered. Start the Bobcat by putting the key in the ignition and pushing the start button.

Drive forward by pushing the two handles forward. They are located on each side of the driver's seat. To go backward, pull the handles back.

Turn left or right by manipulating the two handles. To turn left, you will pull the left handle backward. Turning right is accomplished by pulling the right handle backward. Make a sharp left turn by pulling the left handle back and pushing the right handle forward. Make a sharp right turn by pulling the right handle back and pushing the left handle forward.

Raise and lower the bucket by manipulating the left floor pedal. To raise the bucket, push the pedal down with the toe of your foot. Lower the bucket by pushing the pedal down with the heel of your foot.

Tip the bucket forward by pushing the right pedal down with the toe of your foot. Tip the bucket back by pushing the right pedal down with the heel of your foot.

Scoop up material by coordinating your hand movements with your foot movements to manipulate the movement of the machine and movement of the bucket.

Tips & Warnings
Always look around the Bobcat before moving the machine or the bucket to ensure that no people or objects are in the way.
Do not work on steep inclines or near drop-offs with the Bobcat. The machine could tip over and take you with it.
Do not exit the Bobcat with the bucket in the up position for any reason. You can be crushed and possibly killed from being trapped between the bucket and the Bobcat.
