Instructions

    • 1

Locate the crack on the slab where there is water leaking.

    • 2

Open the crack using a chisel and hammer. Place the chisel at an angle so that you are making the inside of the crack larger than the outside. Making the crack wider on the inside will allow for a better seal when the hydraulic cement expands.

    • 3

Clean out the crack with a brush to remove any small pieces of concrete and dust.

    • 4

Mix a small amount of hydraulic cement with water in a bucket. Follow the instructions on the package to properly mix the cement. Combine the water and cement in the bucket with a trowel.

    • 5

Fill a spray bottle with water and dampen the crack. The cement will adhere better when the area is slightly moist.

    • 6

Pour the hydraulic cement into the crack to within ½ to ¾ inch of the surface of the slab.

    • 7

Wait about an hour for the cement to dry and then add another layer of cement to the level of the slab using the trowel.

    • 8

Smooth the hydraulic cement with the trowel and then let it dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Hydraulic cement will dry or cure in water. If there is water in the crack when making the repair, the cement will still be able to dry or cure.

  • Concrete can chip and fly around when using a hammer and chisel. Wear eye protection to avoid injury.
