How to Copy & Paste a File to .Doc
Quite often, you may want to copy and paste, then save a block of text as a document that can be edited in word-processing software, which creates a ".doc " file. This file extension (or suffix) is placed at the end of a file name in Microsoft Word. If you're new to word-processing, doing so can initially be confusing, but once you've done it a few times, in different ways, it's easy. Two common scenarios include placing text from an online site into a document or saving entire documents or parts of them that were previously saved as different file types. This process will work with Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems.
Things You'll Need
- Word-processing software (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, or Open Office Writer)

1
Copy the block of text you need to save as a ".doc" file. To do this whether the text is online or is part of a document, highlight the text and press "ctrl" and "C" at the same time. This will copy the text to your clipboard. You won't see the clipboard anywhere, so don't worry.

2
Open a new ".doc" file in Microsoft Word or Works. Press "ctrl" and "V" at the same time. The text that you saved to your clipboard will now pop into the new document file. On a Mac, the process is the same, except you will use Command C and Command V.
Save it.
Remember: C is for copy. V looks like a little insertion symbol, so V is for paste.

Save an entire document created with an alternate computer program, such as Open Office. Open the file you want to save and pull down the file menu in the upper right-hand corner. Click on "save as". A window box listing your files will open. You will see one line under the file list with the name of your file in it. Under that, you will see another line with a prompt that says, "save as". Click on the little arrow on the right of the line and it will open up a list of choices. Choose any of the ".doc" types, then click the save button.
