How to Assemble a Basketball Stand
Playing basketball is a passion for many people. They begin playing the game in their youth and continue into adulthood playing in leagues, pickup games or meeting friends to shoot around. Many people just love to pick up the basketball and start shooting. You can do this at your own home if you assemble and install your own basketball hoop.

1
Attach the base of your basketball stand to the supporting arms. These arms will support the hoop and backboard. Use the wrench and the bolts to secure the supporting arms in pre-drilled holes and lock them into place with locking nuts.

2
Attach the backboard and rim to the supporting arms. The backboard will have standards (braces) that attach to the arms from the base. Climb the ladder so you can slip the backboard over the supporting arms and attach it with bolts and locking nuts using your wrench. Have a friend or neighbor secure the ladder while you are putting the backboard in its place.

Move the completed basket to the spot on your property that you will want to leave it. Many people put it on the side of their driveway. Others will move it to the patio in their backyard. Once you find your ideal spot, remove the wheels so it will not move around.

Open the top cover of the base and fill it with water or sand. With a portable basket, you have to weigh it down in order to secure it. This is almost always done with sand or water. If you use water, attach a hose to an outdoor spigot and fill the base to the prescribed height. If you are filling with sand, use a 50-pound bag of sand to get the job done.
