How to Make a Tanning Lotion That Doesn't Smell
Everyone loves the natural glow of sun-kissed skin. However, no one loves the unhealthy side effects harmful UV rays have on the skin. There are a variety of sunless tanning lotions on the market, but many leave your skin streaky, orange or smelling badly. There are two ways to make your own sunless tanning lotion at home using tea or chocolate. Things You'll Need
- Jar with lid or empty lotion bottle
- White, unscented body lotion
- Cocoa powder
- Black tea
- Lanolin
- Sesame Oil

Chocolate Sunless Tanner

Measure 2 tbsp. of cocoa powder into a clean, dry bowl. Add 2 tbsp. of unscented lotion into the bowl. The lotion must be unscented and white in color so that the smell and color do not react with the cocoa powder.

Mix the ingredients well. The sunless tanning lotion will look like a creamy chocolate pudding, but once it is rubbed into your skin, the color will be much lighter.

Test the lotion on the back of your hand, and add more cocoa powder to make it darker, or more lotion to make it lighter. When you have reached the desired color, empty into the jar or lotion bottle. Apply the lotion to your skin, and allow it to dry completely before dressing.
Black Tea Sunless Tanner

Heat ¾ cup of water until it is boiling. Steep three black tea bags for five to seven minutes, making sure the water becomes very dark.

Pour ¼ cup of the mixture into a blender. Add ¼ cup of lanolin oil and ¼ cup of sesame oil. Blend on low speed, and slowly add the remaining tea mixture.

Test the sunless tanning lotion on the back of your hand to make sure it matches your skin tone. If necessary, add more tea to make it darker, or more oil to make it lighter. Empty it into a lotion bottle; apply liberally to your skin and allow it to dry thoroughly.

Tips & Warnings
The sunless tanner made with chocolate may attract your dog or other pets, so store out of reach.
The sunless tanner is not waterproof; avoid wearing it in situations where you may get thoroughly wet; for instance, at the beach.
