How to Host a Wii Party With Multiple Consoles

By the end of 2006, it seemed that everyone had heard of the latest Nintendo gaming console, the Wii. Now a few years later, it seems like everyone owns one. Because of this and the unique remote allowing for more active gameplay, the Wii is the perfect entertainment and theme for a party. Multiple Wiis surrounded by food and fun make for a never-boring event for all ages. Once your Wiis are plugged in and you're stocked up on necessities, the party will keep itself going for hours. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Figure out how many Wii consoles and televisions you will need in your home and where they will all fit. Because video games can be loud, think about spacing the Wiis and TVs in different rooms or divided by screens to space and block out some of the noise from nearby games. Three Wiis should be minimum for a multiple-Wii party. If you don't have three or more systems, ask friends if they'll let their Wiis be a part of the party.

    • 2

Set up different stations with the Wiis. One Wii, for example, may be the "sports station" with the Wii sports games and other games like "Madden" football or golf. Another Wii station might be the "racing station," with Mario Kart and other racing games. Only have games available at the party that are multiplayer and games that can have four people playing at once are best.

    • 3

Set up a tally board with guests' names on it and number of games won in any station. Have prizes to give out to those who win the most number of games in any station. This will create a friendly competition and maybe get more people who would normally stand on the sidelines in on the action.

    • 4

Have another form of entertainment available, whether it's music playing with a dance floor or just another TV with a movie on in another room. This will ensure that even when all of the stations are filled up, guests have something to do and are not bored. Also have snacks and drinks available for everyone in one general area of your home to inspire mingling and a general "hanging out" place for folks.

    • 5

Have enough seating for everyone surrounding the Wiis. While a few are playing, others will want to watch. Set up a few chairs with some space for standing as well to encourage guests to cheer on others when the games are being played.

    • 6

Decorate your home to match the Wii party. Search for Nintendo-themed party supplies online at sites like eBay.com and Amazon.com. Use markers to decorate plastic white cups like Wii remotes and use your imagination on subtle Wii tie-ins, such as having Italian food served because Mario is Italian.

Tips & Warnings

  • Rent games from a videogame rental store instead of using your own if you are afraid of guests ruining your owned games at the party.

  • Have a "no drink around the Wiis" rule at your party to ensure nothing is spilled on the console. This will also add a reason for guests to let others have a turn while they get a drink in another room.
