How to Send a Video to a Zip File

A .zip file is a file that has been compressed, to make it easier to transmit or take up less storage space. Converting a video file to a .zip file is especially handy because videos are large files. The best thing about .zip files is that you can easily go back to the regular file format. Sending a video to a .zip file is quick and can be done with just the click of a mouse.

Instructions

    • 1

Download a file decompression program. IZArc (See Resources) is one program in particular that is both free and relatively small in file size. Although WinZip performs well, it requires a registration fee to gain unlimited access.

    • 2

Locate the video file by navigating to the folder where it is saved. If you are having trouble finding it, click on "Start," then "Search" and enter the name of the video file in the search dialog box.

    • 3

Convert the video to a .zip file. Right-click on the video file and highlight "IZArc." Click "Add to (Name of File) .zip."

    • 4

Save the .zip file. Move the file to an easy to remember location after the conversion process has completed. Feel free to send the file as an email attachment as well.
