How to Attach Hairpieces
Hairpieces can be used to cover bald spots, to add volume to thin hair or to add drama and flare to an existing hairstyle. There are many kinds of hairpieces. Wigs and toupees are for those suffering hair loss. Hair wefts are wide sections of hair attached at their tops to thin nylon ribbon. Hair clips are attached to the back of the ribbon for easy use. Hair wefts are usually used by those with thin hair. Faux ponytails come in a variety of colors and textures and are attached either to an elastic ponytail holder or a large claw clip. Things You'll Need
- Wig or toupee
- Wig adhesive or tape
- Hair weft
- Comb
- Hair clips
- Faux ponytail

Attach a wig or a toupee to your head with adhesive or tape. Adjust the hairpiece without adhesive first, take it off, then dab wig adhesive around the edges of your scalp or add small strips of wig tape to the inside of the hairpiece. Set the hairpiece on your head gently, adjust it if needed, then press it to your scalp to secure.

Attach a hair weft to your hair with the existing clips. Part your hair at the temple and clip the top layer of hair out of the way. Push the first clip of the hair weft into the bottom layer of hair and snap it closed. Line the edge of the hair weft up with the part and snap the rest of the clips into your hair. Repeat on other side of head.

Attach a faux ponytail to an existing ponytail or bun. Pull up your hair as normal and wrap the faux ponytail's elastic band around the your ponytails elastic band. Or, push a claw clip into your hair just above the ponytail or bun and snap it closed. Fluff and blend your hair with the ponytail if necessary.
