How to Clean Sun Visors
A clean car makes every errand a little more pleasant, whether you are buying groceries or carpooling to work, and one of the most often overlooked car detailing tasks is cleaning visors. Clean sun visors may not be important in the grand scheme of things, but if you've ever been stuck in traffic and grabbed one to cut blinding glare only to find it sticky, you risked a second of distraction, which is all it takes for a fender-bender to happen. Take a second to wash car visors thoroughly, and you could save yourself some trouble later.

1
Put on your goggles to keep dust and drips out of your eyes. Turn the sun visors down and give them a good dusting with a clean shop cloth.
-
2
Spray some some Simple Green or other gentle cleanser on a damp sponge and go over the inside of the sun visors. Use a cotton swab with a squirt of cleanser on it to clean where the mirror (if there is one) is attached to the sun visor.

3
Open the mirror if you have one. Clean the underside of the mirror flap and dry it with a clean shop cloth.
-
4
Spray some glass cleaner onto the mirror and rub it clean with a paper towel. Make sure the mirror and the cover flap are both dry before closing the flap.
-
5
Use a cotton swab dampened with cleanser to clean the area where the sun visor attaches to the car, whether it is a flap seam or a metal arm.
-
6
Tilt the sun visor up and clean the underside with a dampened sponge and cleanser. Wipe everything down with a clean shop cloth to make sure it is dry.

Tips & Warnings
Coat your sun visors with the same finish coat you use on your dashboard and door panels for a little extra shine.
Don't hide extra keys on top of your sun visor; you can scratch the finish, and it's the first place car thieves look.
