How to Make Arrowroot Deodorant
Arrowroot deodorant is a simple, easy-to-make homemade deodorant that is just as effective as commercial brands. Homemade deodorants, however, eschew the use of chemical and preservatives, relying instead on natural ingredients to stop odor and minimize perspiration. This recipe makes enough deodorant for daily use for about two weeks, but the recipe is easily doubled for more uses or people. Arrowroot deodorant will keep for about three months. Things You'll Need
- Arrowroot powder
- Lavender essential oil
- Small saucepan with lid
- Sage essential oil
- Sandalwood essential oil
- Wooden spoon or disposable stirrer

Combine 12 tbsp. of arrowroot powder and 20 drops of lavender essential oil in a small saucepan. Cover with the lid and heat on the stove for three to four minutes until warm.

Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add 12 drops of sage essential oil and eight drops of sandalwood essential oil. Mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon or disposable stirrer.

Transfer the contents of the saucepan to a sterilized glass bottle with a fine-spray mister using a funnel.

Place the bottle in a cool, dark place for 48 hours before first use. Shake gently before each use.

Tips & Warnings
Spray the arrowroot deodorant several times under each arm or apply with a clean cotton ball if your bottle does not have a mister.
Avoid mixing or storing any type of homemade deodorants in an aluminum container, as the heavy metals may enter the bloodstream through the pores.
