1
Wash the glass thoroughly in warm water and dish soap. It is important that there are no grease spots or particles of dirt present on the glass. Using a wine glass disposable washcloth is a good way to safely get rid of dirt and grease particles without damaging the glass. These cloths can be purchased at most grocery stores. Dry with a soft cloth. Don't touch the glass with your fingers, as this can make grease spots appear.

Apply the gold paint to the glass. Acrylic and oil-based paints will work equally well. Choose a paint that will provide the most durability if you are painting a dish that will be used for eating or serving. Resin-based paints are the most durable.
Use a larger brush to apply a large coat to the glass. Smaller brushes can be used for detail work. If you make a mistake, simply wipe away the mistake with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. Use paper towels to wipe away large mistakes. Use paint thinner to thin the paint if necessary.

Let the paint dry for 24 hours. If you are using several coats, let each coat dry for 24 hours before applying the next coat. Once the last coat has dried for 24 hours, set the oven to 160 degrees. Place the glass object in the cool oven. Once the oven has reached the correct temperature, set a timer for 40 minutes.
When the timer goes off, turn the oven off and open the door, but do not remove the object. Take the object out when the oven has completely cooled.

Wash the painted glass by hand or in the top rack of the dishwasher. While the paint is resistant to water after baking, it can still be scratched and damaged, so care is required.
