How to Make a Missionary Prayer Card
Prayer cards are an easy way to help your supporters remember to pray for you. Whether you are a career missionary or just setting off on your first short-term missions trip, an attractive, informative prayer card is an important tool. Most prayer cards have a photo of the missionary (or missionary family), the name of the mission field, the missions agency sending the missionary, and sometimes a few prayer requests or facts about the destination.
Things You'll Need
- Photograph of yourself (and your spouse or family if applicable)
- Contact information for yourself or your missions agency
- Map of the region where you will be located (Optional)
- Color printer (Optional)

1
Decide what type of prayer card you want. Most prayer cards are postcard-sized, but some missionaries prefer bookmarks, large magnets, business cards, etc. Consider what your supporters are likely to see on a regular basis. A refrigerator magnet, a photo for a bulletin board, or a Bible bookmark are all viable options.

2
Pick a design for your prayer card. Many prayer cards simply contain a photograph with the names of the missionaries, the mission field and the missions agency written on the front. Other options are to have a sidebar with written information beside a photograph or an attractive background with a small photograph and information typed over it in a simple layout. A bookmark prayer card could have a wallet-sized photo at the top and a list of prayer requests or facts about the mission field written down its length.

3
Write the content for your prayer card. This could be nothing more than your name, the location where you will serve as a missionary and the name and contact information for your missions agency. If you would like to go into more depth, you can add interesting facts about the missions field, statistics to inspire prayer, or a list of specific prayer requests.

4
Print your prayer cards. For homemade prayer cards, create your layout on desktop publishing software and print in color on heavy paper. For professionally printed cards, there are many companies that specialize in missionary prayer cards and prayer letters. Professional print and copy companies also can help you design, create and publish your prayer cards.

Tips & Warnings
Keep the content short and sweet. Supporters are less likely to read a cluttered prayer card. If you have to add more detailed information, consider adding it to the back of the card.
