Check to make sure that the PTO lever button is not engaged if your mower fails to start. Other possible causes for the mower not starting may be that the parking brake is not engaged or that the spark plug has been disconnected. Check that the throttle control is in the correct position, check that the choke is activated, check to make sure that your fuel tank is at least half full with clean fresh fuel, and that the spark plug is functional.

Check to see whether the engine oil level is low if the engine is overheating. If the oil level is OK, check the exhaust pump and make sure that it is not blocked with grass or debris.

    • 3

Check to see whether you have a failed spark plug if the engine is running poorly. If the spark plug is OK, check the oil filter and make sure that it is clean.

    • 4

Check the cutting blade to make sure that it is not loose if the mower is vibrating. It may also be damaged.

    • 5

Check that the deck is balanced properly if you are not getting an even cut. Other possibilities include a dull blade or uneven tire pressure.
