How to Play MPG Files on a BlackBerry Pearl

To play MPEG (MPG) files on a BlackBerry Pearl, the video file must first be converted to MP4 format. Once converted, the file is simply copied into the video folder on the BlackBerry device. A free and easy-to-use online video conversion utility is available with Media-Convert (See Resources).

Instructions

  1. Convert the MPG File to MP4

      Open a Web browser and enter the URL for the Media-Convert application.

      Click in the "File" input box to show the file selector.

      Navigate to and select the MPG file to convert.

      Select "Automatic Detection" from the "Input Format" drop-down box.

      Select the "MP4" option from the "Output Format" drop-down list.

      Click the blue "OK" button to convert the file.

      Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the newly converted MP4 file. Test it in a compatible player.

    Copy the MP4 to the BlackBerry Pearl

      Connect the BlackBerry device to the PC with a USB cable or Bluetooth connection.

      Click the "Yes" button to enable access to mass storage on the BlackBerry.

      Open Windows Explorer on the PC and navigate to the BlackBerry device listed as a drive.
