How to Find a Firmware Version For an iBook

Apple offers firmware (or Boot ROM) updates for its computers and other hardware, including the line of iBook laptops. If you are experiencing problems with your iBook and contact AppleCare, the technician may request the iBook's current firmware number. Firmware updates can correct problems with new hardware and software. Compare your current firmware value with firmware upgrades for your operating system version, and install any updates to keep your iBook up-to-date.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Apple" icon in the upper left corner of the screen.

    • 2

Click on "About Apple System Profiler" or "About This Mac," depending on your OS version.
