How to Bleach Dark Spots on the Face

Maintaining a healthy complexion is much easier said than done. From excessive sun exposure to natural oil buildup, the skin faces numerous challenges. Areas on the body such as the face that cannot be covered by clothing are more susceptible to damage. Dark spots, or hyperpigmentation, is a common skin condition caused by excess melanin deposits. Instructions

  1. Lemon Juice Natural Spot Remover

    • 1

Pour 1 tbsp. lemon juice into bowl. Lemons contain bleaching agents that can quickly lighten dark areas of the skin and exfoliate dead skin cells to produce healthier, brighter skin.

    • 2

Dip 1 to 3 cotton balls in lemon juice and apply to dark skin spots. Lightly dab the spot two to four times with cotton ball; be sure to coat entire spot with lemon juice.

    • 3

Allow the lemon juice to soak on the spot for a minimum 20 minutes. Flush the face with cool water for three minutes.

    • 4

Repeat this process once daily for three weeks for best results.

    Raw Potato Skin Spot Wonder

    • 5

Wash and peel 1/2 potato. For every spot you wish to remove, slice one sliver of raw potato. For instance, if two spots need to be eliminated, slice two potato slivers.

    • 6

Lie down and place the potato slivers on dark spots. Potatoes contain essential minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, zinc and magnesium that are necessary for maintaining the skin's natural health. Potatoes have proven to be useful in the removal of facial blemishes such as acne and dark spots due to their minerals and mild bleaching properties.

    • 7

Allow the potato slivers to soak on dark skin spots for a minimum of 15 minutes. Discard the potato slivers, and rinse the face with cool water to remove excess potato juice from skin.

    • 8

Repeat this treatment twice daily for four weeks for best results.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not be discouraged if immediate results do not occur. Bleaching the skin spots will take time.

  • Always consult a dermatologist before attempting natural bleaching techniques or remedies. While the remedies provided are natural, only a dermatologist can assess your specific skin type and decide whether these remedies are right for you. Avoid making contact with the eyes, cuts and burns when handling lemon juice. Failure to do so may result in eye irritation, severe burning of open lesions, and painful burning sensations.
