How to Save a Document in PDF Form
The portable document file, or PDF, format is a digital document that can be used and viewed across several different platforms and over the web. The format can be used with documents mixing text, graphics and photographs and is the preferred format of many professional printers. It has become so widely used that most word processors and graphics programs include support that allows users to save their files as PDFs.

Tips & Warnings
For programs that do not offer a PDF option in the "Save As" dialogue box, there are a number of free PDF conversion tools on the web.
In the case of text-only files, a PDF file will almost always be significantly larger than the file type you are converting it from. Make sure you are noting any file size limits imposed on the documents you are saving or sending.
