Clear a flat surface work area to work on your lawn mower. Put the lawn mower in gear and put on the brakes. Elevate the lawn mower with a block of wood or use a jack to lift the lawn mower off the ground. If you are using a jack, be sure that it is positioned under a frame rail.

Look at the front of your tires. If they have a black rubber boot over the front tires, they are called spindles. You will need to use a pair of pliers and remove the boot. Once you remove the boot, you will see a c-clip. Use a flat-headed screwdriver to pry the c-clip off. If your lawn mower tires do not have spindles on the front, you will just need to remove the c-clip. The only step for removing the back lawn mower tires is to remove the c-clip.

Drain the air from the tire. Do this by pushing on the tire valve and releasing the air. Once you have all the air released from the tire, take a flat iron and insert it into the tire at the rim. Insert the tire iron at a slight angle and work it back and forth to break the beading. Continue prying the tire loose with the flat iron around the rim of the tire until you have it free from the rim.
