Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length of the area that the pots and pans hanger will hang. The length of the wood you need will depend on the space that you have to hang the rack and the amount of pots and pans that you wish to hang. You can purchase lumber from home improvement stores such as Home Depot or Lowe's. Sand the wood and wipe it down with a clean cloth.

    • 2

Choose a stain, apply the stain onto the wood according to the manufacturer's instructions and allow to dry. Typically one application of stain should be sufficient. If your desired color is not defined with the first application, add a second coat once the first coat dries. Allow the stain to dry. This will take at least a few hours.

    • 3

Add hooks. Take two hooks and screw one towards each end of the wood (these will be where the chain attaches to the ceiling).

Measure your pots and pans and decide where each one will hang. This will give you an idea of how far apart each hook needs to be. On the opposite side of the wood, add hooks for your pots and pans hooks. A pots and pans rack normally has about four to eight hooks, about four to six inches apart.

    • 4

Add two ceiling eyebolts into the ceiling joist. Find the ceiling joist by tapping on the ceiling and when you hear a solid sound, you are at the ceiling joist. Attach the chain to the ceiling eyebolts. To determine the length of the chain, measure the length of your pots and pans and make the necessary adjustments to ensure your cookware is within comfortable reach.

After you've adjusted the length of the chain, attach it to the two hooks on the top of the wood.

Tips & Warnings

  • For a shiny look, add varnish to your wood.

  • Never leave tools in reach of children.
