How to Sandblast Kitchen Cupboards Before Painting
Sandblasting cupboards is probably the easiest, although not the neatest, way of removing paint. Sandblasters can be costly, so consider renting one, which you can do at any home improvement store. Care must be taken since damage to the surface underneath the paint can occur, so understand that the surface may need repairing prior to painting. Does this Spark an idea?

Cover all nearby items from the flying sand and paint flecks with a tarp, and secure them pwith ainters tape to seal the edges.
-
2

3
Close all valves on the sandblaster unit, then fill it up with around 40 lbs (depending on the unit you have) of silica sand. Silica sand is the choice here since it is inexpensive and will do the least amount of damage to the cupboards.

Start the compressor and open the air line to charge or pressurize the sandblaster tank between 40 and 100 pounds per square inch (PSI). Start at a smaller PSI and increase until the paint comes off easily. Pressurizing forces the air to "push down" on the silica sand, pushing it out to the nozzle. Once the compressor shuts off the system is ready to go.

5
Stay about eight to 16 inches from the surface, point the nozzle at the area and pull the trigger. Spray with short bursts for small areas and use a sweeping motion for a large area..

Tips & Warnings
Before sandblasting, ensure that the paint does not have lead in it as this can create a very harmful situation.
Do not stay in one area for too long as this will damage the surface; always keep moving the nozzle.
