Instructions

    • 1

Measure the height of your candle lamp from the base to the top. Measure the width of your candle lamp across the base. Double the height measurement and add the width measurement to it. Add 6 inches to the overall total to determine the length of wire you will need to create a hanger for the lamp.

    • 2

Cut two lengths of 20-gauge wire equal to the measurement from Step 1.

    • 3

Roughen the striking end of your hammer with sandpaper. This will help prevent the hammer from sliding off of the nail head.

    • 4

Insert a nail on either side of the base of your candle lamp. Insert a nail halfway between each of the first two nails, if your candle base is round. If your candle base is square, place one nail in the center of all four sides. If your candle base is rectangular, insert one nail on either end. Leave at least 1/4-inch of each nail exposed.

    • 5

Wrap one end of one piece of wire around one of the nails. Wrap the other end around the nail opposite the first. Repeat this process with the second wire strip if you have four nails. You have essentially made a cage with the craft wire so you can hang your candle lamps.

    • 6

Hook a small S-hook at the top of the candle lamp where the wires cross. Wrap a length of small chain around a tree branch and connect it with the S-hook to hang your candle lamp from a tree.

    • 7

Hook a larger S-hook plant hanger at the top of the candle where the wires cross. Hook the other end of the plant hanger over a shepherd's hook in your garden.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your candle lantern has a metal, wood or plastic top piece, you can attach a wire hanger from the top. Insert two nails, one on either side of the top section of the lamp. Wrap a smaller piece of wire around the nails to create a hook. Hang the candle lamp as described from chain or a plant hanger.
