How to Reset an iTouch

The iTouch is one of Apple's iPods that has a multi-touch interface. This iPod has more features than the original classic iPod. It allows users to download and execute thousands of applications. Also, the iTouch comes fully equipped with the Safari mobile web browser. One common issue that can occur with the iTouch is that it can be susceptible to freezing or lagging. When this occurs, you can perform a reset on the iTouch.

Instructions

    • 1

Power the iTouch off by pressing the sleep button, which is located on the top right-hand corner of the iTouch, for three to five seconds. If the iTouch does not respond, you will have to perform a hard reset.

    • 2

Perform a hard reset on the iTouch by simultaneously pressing the sleep button and the home button for three to five seconds. The home button is located on the bottom of the touch screen. The iTouch should automatically reset and turn back on.

    • 3

Use iTunes to restore the iTouch if the phone continues to lag after the hard reset was performed. This will erase all of your data, so only do this as a last resort.

    • 4

Plug the iTouch into your computer and open iTunes.

    • 5

Click the "Restore" tab located in the main menu of iTunes. Again, once you press this button, your iTouch will completely restore to factory settings.

Tips & Warnings
