How to Cook Bacon Wrapped Sirloin Steak

Before throwing your sirloin steaks on the grill, consider wrapping them in bacon. Bacon is not solely for filet mignon--it pairs well with most tender steaks. Sirloin steak is cut from the lower part of a cow's ribs, around the tenderloin area where a filet mignon is cut. Typically, top sirloin steak is more tender than bottom sirloin steaks. Once you cook your bacon-wrapped sirloin steaks, you will feel like you are about to eat at an expensive restaurant. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Choose steaks that are at least 1-inch thick. This will ensure that the bacon will wrap securely around each steak. You will also want to choose steaks that are not too long or wide. The steaks need to be small enough to wrap one slice of bacon around easily.

    • 2

Soak wooden skewers for 30 minutes in cold water. Soaking wood skewers is necessary to prevent them from catching fire on your grill.

    • 3

Trim the fat off the steaks.

    • 4

Preheat the grill. If you are using a charcoal grill, allow the fire to burn down for at least 20 minutes. A gas grill will be ready after 10 to 15 minutes. Use a grill brush to remove any burned-on debris.

    • 5

Combine 1 tsp. of black pepper and 1 tsp. of salt. Rub these ingredients directly onto the sirloin steak. Cover both sides of the steak with the rub.

    • 6

Wrap one slice of bacon around each steak. The bacon will need to wrap completely around the steak. Insert a wooden skewer through the meats where the bacon overlaps, through the middle of the steak and out through the bacon on the other side of the steak.

    • 7

Place the steaks directly on the grill. Sear each side for 2 to 3 minutes. Close the lid and allow the steak to cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until they reach your desired taste. A well-done steak may take 15 to 25 minutes.

    • 8

Allow the sirloin steaks to cool for 10 minutes. Remove the skewers from the steaks carefully.
