Charge the video iPod if it is not already charged. Before doing a reset Apple recommends in the user manual that is iPod is charged.

Toggle the "Hold" switch on the video iPod on and off by sliding it back and forth.

Press and hold the "Center" and "Menu" buttons for a period of at least six seconds. Hold until the Apple logo appears to complete the reset.
