Tips & Warnings
If you don't like bright red lipstick, you can always just use a little shimmering lip gloss, to balance out the bold eyes.
Don't discount glitter as something only teenagers use. A little glitter can go a long way toward making your costume perfect.
If you don't want to go too bold or sexy, go for a tanned, sea-blown look by using a bronzer on your skin. Add eye shadow in a gold or pink color, similar to a sunset.
If all else fails with the eye makeup, there is always the eye patch! Consider adding glitter to the patch, on top of a skeleton outline. Just be sure not to put very long false eyelashes on the eye with the patch, as they could harm your eyes.
Although not part of your makeup, do not forget your hair. Keeping it looking windswept is a good style, as is simply plopping a three-cornered pirate hat on your head. You could also tie a scarf or bandana around your head, leaving your hair hanging down beneath it.
