How to Make a Dachshund Draft Stopper
Dachshund draft stoppers are welcome additions to an animal lover's home. They are not only attractive, but are functional. Placing a draft stopper in front of a door or on a window sill will help eliminate drafts and reduce energy costs. These homemade creations make great gifts and are incredibly cute.

- Brown fabric
- Scissors
- Sewing pins
- Polyester fiber fill
- Needle
- Brown thread
- Brown felt
- Button noses
- Large button eyes
- Brown tights
- Fabric glue

Fabric Draft Stopper

Cut a piece of brown fabric that measures 32 inches long by 12 inches wide. Fold the fabric in half. Pin one end and the middle section of the brown fabric together. Sew the long section and the end of the brown fabric together with a needle and brown thread. Remove the pins and turn the fabric inside out.

Stuff the fabric tube with polyester fiber fill. Fold the open end over and pin it together. Sew the end of the tube with a blind stitch.

Cut out a tail, four feet, and two ears from the brown felt. Sew the dog's ears onto the side of the dog's face. Sew the tail to the center of the opposite end of the brown tube.

Attach the button eyes and nose to the dachshund below the ears. Sew the button nose onto the end of the tube.

Turn the dachshund over and determine the exact placement of the dog's feet. Pin the feet to the bottom of the tube, and sew each piece in place. Don't forget to remove the pins before placing it in front of the door.

Cut the legs out of a brown pair of tights near the panty line. Stuff the legs with polyester fiber fill, and tie a knot in the end of the tights.

Cut two ears, four feet and a tail from brown felt for each leg section of the tights. Glue the ears onto the toe end of the tights. Fold the tail in half, and glue it on to the tail end. Glue the four feet to the underside of the dachshund's body.

Glue two eyes and a button nose onto the dachshund's face.

Instead of polyester fiber fill, use dried beans or rice to fill the draft stopper.
