Things You'll Need

• Spray bottle filled with water
• Stiff-bristled brush
• Hair elastics
• Baking powder or hair detangler spray
• Baby shampoo

Instructions

1. Use a stiff-bristled brush to make a series of parts in the doll's hair, wrapping a hair elastic around the bottom of each part. Then remove the band from one part and wet it with a spray bottle. Brush out the hair from top to bottom. Replace the band and move on to the next part. Continue until the entire doll's hair is brushed out.

2. Wrap your American Girl doll in a plastic bag so that only the head is visible. Then wash your doll's hair with a small amount of baby shampoo. Wait a few minutes before rinsing the shampoo out.

3. Wash your doll's hair for a second time, but this time sprinkle a small amount of baking powder onto your American Girl doll's hair and mix it in with the shampoo.
