How to Patch ATV Tires

Off-roading on your ATV can be a lot of fun until the tire goes flat. Many trails can have unsafe or sharp items that can flatten a tire on your ATV. There is no need to push the ATV all the way home when your tires have the capability of being liquid-patched. Liquid tire sealer is a foamlike substance that you inject into the ATV tire; it will seal the hole and then inflate the tire.

Instructions

    • 1

Inspect your ATV tire. Look at the sidewalls for rubber tears or sliced holes. If there are any noticeable holes, the liquid tire sealer will not work; you will need a new tire.

    • 2

Move the ATV to a flat location to use the liquid tire sealer.

    • 3

Shake the can of liquid tire sealer vigorously for a minute to mix the expanding epoxy.

    • 4

Unscrew the tire valve stem cap. Place the liquid tire sealer nozzle on the valve stem just as if you were airing up the tire with the can.

    • 5

Squirt liquid tire sealer into the tire until the tire begins to lift. Roll the ATV forward 1 yard, then roll it backward 2 yards. This will allow the foam to spread out more evenly in the tire.

    • 6

Place the liquid tire sealer nozzle on the valve stem again, and fill the tire until the it feels full and firm to the touch.
