How to Open a Notebook Text Document As a Web Page

Notebook is one of the most basic word processing programs included on almost every computer. Documents saved in Notebook are saved as text files by default and, therefore, open by word processing programs by default. Some people write HTML and other coding inside Notebook documents to design web pages. To ensure that your codes are correct, you need to view them live on an Internet browser as a web page, which is relatively simple to do.

Instructions

1. Locate the Notebook text document that you would like to open as a web page. Notebook text documents are usually saved in the "My Documents" folder of your computer hard drive and end with the extension ".txt."

2. Right-click on the Notebook text document and mouse over "Open With" in the drop-down menu.

3. Scroll down to and click on "Choose Program." Select your Internet browser from the list of programs. An Internet browser should load, displaying your Notebook text document as a web page.

Tips & Warnings

• Save the Notebook text document with a ".html" file extension to make it open up as a web page by default.

• If you're viewing a .txt file that contains content linked to the web, the content will not display in your Internet browser if you are offline; you must be connected to the Internet to view any web content.
