How to Hang Wood Shoe Shelves
Wooden shoe shelves are a convenient way to organize multiple pairs of shoes in a relatively small space. These shelves can often be placed on the floor of an entrance way, pantry, or closet. However, you may want your shoes to be completely out of the way. Things You'll Need
- Shelf brackets
- Screws
- Self-drilling screw-in anchors
- Pencil
- Stud finder
- Level or measuring tape
- Drill or screwdriver

Use a stud finder to locate the studs in the area where you want to hang your shelf.

Use a pencil to mark a small spot on the wall where you plan to hang each bracket. The spot should be over the studs you located with the stud finder. Use a level to make sure the points are even. If you don't have a level, use a measuring tape to measure the space between each point and the floor. The measurements should be equal for each point.

Screw the anchors in the wall where you marked each point. Use a number two drill bit or a number two Phillips screwdriver. Be sure you don't over tighten or strip the anchors.

Put a screw through your bracket. Use your drill or screwdriver to screw in the screw and secure the bracket to the anchor in the wall. Repeat for the second bracket.

Hang your wood shoe shelves on the brackets.

Ask a staff member at your local hardware store for assistance if you're not sure what types of shelf brackets, screws, and anchors to use. Self-drilling anchors, for example, work well for a shelf that will hold a lot of weight, and self-drilling, screw-in type anchors are more reliable and secure than plastic anchors.
Before installing the brackets, you may want to secure them to the shelf for added stability.
