How to Turn a Poster Board into a Billboard
Billboards are a perfect way to announce upcoming events. If you are having a garage sale, a birthday party or a meeting, you can create your own billboard by using poster board. Be as creative as you want. You can use markers, paints, stickers, photographs and just about anything that can be adhered to a poster board. Place your finished billboard on a wall or on an easel. You can also attach it to a post and display it like a sign.

1
Using the sketch paper, sketch out your billboard design. Include all of the important components, such as dates, times, locations and the proper heading or announcement.
-
2
Balance your design such that the most important information is the largest or boldest. Secondary information should be smaller. Place pictures or images within your design to make it more interesting and eye-catching.
-
-
3
Select a light-colored poster board, such as yellow, white or tan. Colors like these will make a suitable background for your billboard.
-
4
Determine how the billboard will be displayed---portrait view or landscape view. Use a ruler to divide the poster board into thirds and draw the two lines very lightly in pencil. Draw another line, horizontally down the center of the board if it is in landscape view, or vertically down the center of the board if it is in portrait view.
-
5
Transfer the components of your design onto the poster board. Sketch the words and designs lightly with pencil.
-
6
Inspect the poster board. Make sure that all of the words are legible and correctly spelled. If you are satisfied with the look of your billboard, use markers or paint to begin adding color. If you choose to use stick-on letters, arrange all of the letters on the poster board before you adhere them. Once you are satisfied with the spacing, stick the letters to the poster board.
-
7
Add images or illustrations to the billboard after all of the wording is complete. You can glue images to the board or draw directly on it.
-
8
Make the billboard more rigid by adhering a piece of cardboard to the back. The cardboard should be cut to the same size as the poster board.
