How to Get iPhone Contacts From iTunes

Although one of the main features of the iPhone is its interface, some processes are not readily apparent. The iPhone has so many features that sometimes tasks like exporting contacts from iTunes to the iPhone can be overwhelming. ITunes is a digital media player that also acts as a software docking station for your iPhone. This is where all of your iPhone settings and files can be updated and removed. There are many functions that you cannot perform without connecting the iPhone to iTunes, including getting your iPhone contacts.

Instructions

      Download and install iTunes onto your computer if you do not already have it.

      Plug your iPhone into the computer, and iTunes should automatically open. If it does not, open iTunes manually. You should see you iPhone appear in the left-hand column.

      Click the iPhone icon on the left-hand column, and the a new interface should appear.

      Click the "Info" tab located across the top of iTunes. It is the second tab from the left.

      Click the "Sync Contacts" checkbox. This is located about halfway down the application. You can either choose to sync all of your contacts, or you can select specific groups of contacts.

      Click the "Sync" button on the lower right-hand corner of iTunes. This will put the contacts from iTunes into your iPhone.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can iTunes sync other data from your computer like calendar dates, music, movies and ring tones.

  • Do not unplug the iPhone without first ejecting it from iTunes. Doing so may result in damage or loss of data.
