How to Read Excel Office Files on Mac
The Mac operating system, OS X, is easy to learn and use. Because software on the Mac is made by Mac, the computer is integrated and all programs work together. Although Excel is a Microsoft Office program, you can view Excel files easily on a Mac using the feature called Quick Look.

Click on the "Finder" icon in the tool bar, which looks like a blue face. The Finder shows all the files on your computer.

Locate the Excel file that you want to view. It could be saved in your "Documents" folder or on the desktop.

Click once on the Excel file, then tap the "space" bar or click on the Quick Look icon at the top of the "Finder" screen. Your Excel file will pop up in a new window where you can view the file.
If an Excel file is emailed to you in the Mac Mail program, you can click on the file and view it automatically in Quick Look without having to download the file.
