How to Train a Rodeo Bull
Training a rodeo bull can be very complex as well as costly, but can be a profitable adventure in the long run. This is a not an adventure for someone who has not raised animals before. Someone who has raised cattle before would have a better handle on training a rodeo bull; however, if your are determined to try it without every having raised livestock before it can be done. Bulls while cute when young will become extremely active the older they get and will need a stern hand. Rodeo bulls if trained well can net a nice profit for their owners.

The First Purchase
-
1
Purchase a young bull from a good stock contractor in your area. A good choice is a bull that is around a year old but not older than 2 years.
-
2
Purchase a bucking dummy. This is a mechanical weighted device that is put on the bull to train it for riders. This device works by remote so that it easily pops off of the bucking bull after 8 seconds.
-
-
3
Load a bucking bull into a stock trailer and take him to spend a week with a trainer. Once the bull has had ample time with a trainer then it will be ready to start hitting the futurity shows and competing.
-
4
Enter the bull into as many futurity shows as possible. The more the bull wins the closer it will be to becoming a great bucking bull for the rodeos. When the bull is at the age of two you can start putting riders on to the bull to see just how well it is going to do at a real rodeo.

Tips & Warnings
Wear long sleeves and jeans at all times.
Never take your bull to a rodeo without good rodeo clowns.
As your bull is being asked to perform at rodeos there will be a stock fee paid to the owner of the bull. This is where you start making your money back that you spent on the training of the bull.
Bulls can be very mean, take your time and adjust to all situations.
Never put a human rider on a bull under two years of age. Always use the bucking dummy up until this point.
