Wash the gently used stuffed bear with laundry detergent in the washer. Wash it on the delicate cycle with other items like undergarments, linens and other stuffed toys. Use cold water for the wash to avoid color bleeding and a cold rinse to prevent shrinkage of material.

Dry the bear with the other items on a low heat setting, but do not remove until the bear is completely dry. If moisture remains within the thick layers of cotton, the bear can grow mold in areas where people cannot see. Mold can cause serious health problems, especially for those with allergies.

Take the bear to a place where people are accepting donations. Start with a shelter or local support house. During the holiday season, there are often containers set up near major department and grocery stores just for donations of toys.
