How to Care for Brazilian Walnut Wood
Brazilian walnut wood, also referred to as Ipe, is one of the hardest woods in the world. It is appealing to builders because of its strength, bug resistant qualities, and natural fire resistance. Brazilian walnut wood is generally more expensive to purchase, but its longevity makes it worth the cost. This type of wood is commonly used in the building of decks, hardwood floors, bridges, benches, piers and docks. Brazilian walnut wood is low maintenance, requiring very little care to maintain its strength and aesthetic appeal. Does this Spark an idea?

Clean up spilled liquids that end up on the Brazilian walnut wood promptly. Liquids that sit too long can cause irreversible damage to the wood.

4
Refinish Brazilian wood floors and furniture if they begin to look worn. Be sure to only use a water based finish, as some oil finishes can ruin the wood.

5
Preserve the natural colors of a Brazilian walnut wood deck by applying a finish made for dense woods. Be sure to apply only a thin coat. This process can be repeated every six months, however most Brazilian walnut wood does not need to be finished unless the owner wants to preserve a specific color in the wood.
