How to Make a Monster Doll for Kids
Kids love and fear monsters at the same time. Help the little ones in your life feel safe at night with their own friendly monster doll to protect them while they sleep. Make a monster doll at home using scraps of fabric and items you probably already have around the house; or take a trip to a craft store to round out your supplies. Either way, your kids are sure to love these monster dolls, and love making them even more.

1
Cut out the monster body from a cozy fabric, like fleece. For other options, try felt or even cut the monster out of an old t-shirt you have lying around the house. The great part about a monster is that it can come in any shape, size or color. Just put two pieces of fabric together while you cut out your monster, so the front and back will match.

2
Cut out facial features from scraps of felt. Give your monster a big mouth, pointy teeth or a funny nose. Sew or glue these felt pieces to the front of your monster for his face, and add buttons for eyes.

3
Sew the front and back of the monster together. Hand stitch with a needle and thread, use fabric glue, or sew on a machine. If you use a machine, turn the front and back so the right sides are facing before you sew. In any method, leave an opening in the top for stuffing before sewing all the way.

4
Stuff your monster through the opening you left in the seam. Use polyester fiberfill stuffing from a craft store, or simply cut scraps of fabric (left over from making the monster's body) to fill the monster. Sew the rest of the seam closed when you finish stuffing, and your monster is ready to play.

Tips & Warnings
Ask your child to draw a monster, then base your doll design on their drawing.
Use safety eyes rather than buttons if making the doll for a child under three.
