How to Clear a Verizon Cell of All Data
You can restore your phone to its factory settings and it will change everything on your phone back to the default. But this will only reset your settings; it won't delete any data from the phone. The only way to clear all the data from your Verizon cell phone is by performing a hard reset. This will erase all data as well as restoring preferences back to factory settings. It is recommended that you only perform a hard reset when the existing data has been backed up or is unwanted.

Tips & Warnings
You can delete your text messages one by one or all at once. Even if you delete the messages from your phone, they can still be retrieved in some cases. You can find text message recovery software online that you can download. The program will allow you to retrieve your deleted messages. The only way to ensure that your messages are gone for good is a hard reset.
Verizon also offers an online storage center where you can back up all of your data. This way, whenever you delete files from your phone, they will still be securely saved online. You have to opt in to this service if you want it.
